Cox Helps Las Vegas to Become Smart Gigabit Community

The city of Las Vegas is the latest Smart Gigabit Community (SGC) thanks to sponsorship by Cable Internet provider Cox Communications. The nonprofit US Ignite Inc announced the designation as part of teh 2018 US Ignite Application Summit that took place in Kansas City recently.

Las Vegas Mayor, Carolyn G. Goodman said, “Las Vegas has become known as a city of innovation, and I know this partnership with Cox Communications will continue to move us toward becoming a world-class city.”

The third largest cable company in the US, Cox Communications provides digital video, Internet, phone and home security services across the country.

The US Ignite Smart Gigabit Communities program is funded by the National Science Foundation. US Ignite’s Smart Gigabit Communities program promotes wireless and fiber networks in communities throughout the United States.

Cox Communications has been working to create the network infrastructure of Las Vegas for almost twenty years. Cox has been offering multi-gig speeds to Las Vegas businesses for more than ten years and is in line to finish the network enhancements in 2018 and provide gigabit internet to all of the Las Vegas area it serves, by the end of next year.
